  • Steve Burdin @ Northern Pop Quiz from West Yorkshire UkI believe B J Thomas predates Brenda Lee's version of 'Always On My Mind'. His recording is from 1970. I collect originals and I'm pretty sure his was first.
  • Z-man from Las VegasRock on!
  • Jan from ConnecticutI believe "Unchained Melody" was a hit for Billy Eckstine long before the Righteous Brothers covered the song.
  • Collin M. Williams from Swakopmund, erongo NamibiaTough, eh?
  • Paul from Melbournetough questions, well done .
  • Tokenhippie from Vancouver, British ColumbiaWell Amanda, "Time Is On My Side" is a tricky one. When you mentioned the Rolling Stones in the same breath as Kai Winding's version that would not be totally accurate. If you compared it to Irma Thomas' version which was written by Jimmy Norman/Norman Meade that would be the Stones' version. Kai Winding's version written only by Norm Meade aka Jerry Ragovoy and it was limited to only "You Keep Running Back To Me". The lyrics by Jimmy Norman is the Irma Thomas and Rolling Stones version. So in conclusion it was the Stones who covered Irma Thomas' version of "Time Is On My Side" not the the Kai Winding version. Irma Thomas did the first complete version version of "Time Is On My Side" and the Stones covered that version. The Gospelaires did a limited backup vocal to a basic instrumental by repeating "you keep running back to me."
