Songfacts®:

  • Here, 21 Savage raps about spoiling his woman with a luxury lifestyle. However, he doesn't treat her like his fiancée and is not committed to the relationship. Instead, he just wants to enjoy the moment when they're having sex, which is why he calls himself Mr. Right Now.
  • Drake joins 21 Savage on the track. During his verse, the Toronto MC flexes about his sexual prowess. He also claims to have dated SZA " back in '08." This line ruffled a few feathers as the TDE singer would have been only 17 during most of 2008.

Two days after the song's release, SZA took to her Twitter account and confirmed that she and Drake actually did date. However, she added that he'd used some "poetic rap license" and it was in 2009, not 2008.

"I just didn't want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening," she added in a second tweet. "Completely innocent. Lifetimes ago."
  • This isn't the first time Drake has referred to his romance with SZA in a song. On his January 2018 track "Diplomatic Immunity," Drake rapped about knowing SZA from "way back" after referring to her by her first name, Solána:

I just pulled up on Solana show, the girl's a natural
I knew her way back when Hollywood was international
  • The song marks the third collaboration between 21 Savage and Drake, following "Sneakin," and the unreleased leaked track "Issa."
  • Metro Boomin created the melodic beat with German duo David x Eli, whose other credits include DJ Khaled's "Popstar."
