Songfacts®:

  • This song was written by 311 lead singer Nick Hexum, who says it's about falling for the wrong person. "I think many times, people in general - and me, especially - find ourselves attracted to people who are not good for us," he said in his Songfacts interview. "We know it, but we can't resist. That's what 'Beautiful Disaster' is."
  • The video was directed by the New York-based photographer/filmmaker Carter B. Smith, who also did the Jane's Addiction clip for "Jane Says."

  • Bigg Pappa Bear from MemphisI heard from a lady that’s 46 years old that she sold the writes to this song she wrote about her girlfriend whom she found dead from heroine overdose. She sold the rights for 7 thousand dollars. Her name is Christian and I tend to believe her. She was recognized for her poetry. She told me they changed three words in the whole song. Anyone want to dispute this?
  • Natalie from Lorena, TxSuch a cool song, and so different too. Wouldn't expect any less from 311. This is definitely a favorite of mine.
