Songfacts®:

  • This song of encouragement and hope was the gospel group's first ever single release and it stayed at #1 on the Christian Contemporary charts for eight weeks.
  • 4Him's A&R contact Andy Ivey had begged the quartet to record this number, and though they agreed to do it, no one was particularly enthused to be the lead as it was completely different to anything they'd heard. Eventually Andy Chrisman took the baton a few hours before they were due to go on the road. He explained in CCM Top 100 Greatest Songs In Christian Music: "I literally went in and ran through that song maybe four times, and I had to leave to go to Atlanta. And the guys were behind me about 12 hours. They went in and threw some background vocals on it. You know, crazier things have happened, and it turns out to be this great song that starts our career. We still sing it every night."
  • 4Him went on to become one of the leading contemporary Christian groups winning the Dove Award for Group of the Year for three consecutive years between 1993 and 1995. They disbanded in 2006 to pursue individual careers.
