Songfacts®:

  • This rollicking punk-popper was penned by 5SOS's Michael and Ashton along with All Time Low vocalist Alex Gaskarth and producer John Feldmann, who co-wrote "Heroes" for All Time Low's 2011 Dirty Work album.

All Time Low is one of a trio of influences named on 5 Seconds of Summer's official Facebook page, and Alex Gaskarth also co-wrote "Kiss Me Kiss Me" and "Long Way Home" for their debut album.
  • Luke sings on the chorus:

How did we end up talking in the first place?
You said you liked my Cobain shirt

Having previously sung of admiring American Apparel underwear on a girl in "She Looks So Perfect," Luke now sings of a female attracted to his shirt, which pays tribute to the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.
  • This song was designed to be a live crowd-pleaser. "We wanted to write something uptempo that gets the crowd jumping," 5SOS drummer Ashton Irwin explained. "We wanted a song that lifts the crowd. We always think about tempos that will make the crowd go crazy - we want a party atmosphere at our shows."
