  • When Daniel "6ix9ine" Hernandez was arrested on racketeering, weapons, and drugs charges, he faced a lengthy prison sentence. However, the rapper testified in court against his former Nine Trey Gangsta Blood affiliates, implicating many of the gang members in crimes. Hernandez' cooperation with the investigation led to him getting instead a very short two-year sentence. The authorities released him from jail into house arrest early in April 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This song, dropped on May 8, 2020, his 24th birthday, is 6ix9ine's first single since his release.
  • During the song, 6ix9ine addresses his adversaries who criticized his conduct during his trial and his early release.

Are you dumb, stupid, or dumb, huh?

The rapper is laughing in the faces of those who are publicly "mad" at him because he can now pick up his successful recording career. While in prison, 6ix9ine signed a $10 million record deal for the release of two albums while also earning multi-millions from his music royalties.
  • Near the end of the song, 6ix9in addresses "snitching" in court against members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods Gang in return for a reduced sentence.

Tell me how I ratted, came home to a big bag

The publicity got 6ix9ine trending on social media, resulting in even more music sales.
  • The song title is 6ix9in's take on the word "goober," meaning a foolish or clueless person. In this case he is further agitating his detractors by calling them "Gooba." The rapper has form for using misspelt insults as song titles – his 2018 single "Stoopid" being a case in point.
  • Tekashi shot the video while under home confinement with CanonF8 and David Wept. The clip features 6ix9ine's girlfriend, Rachel "Jade" Wattley, and paint-covered twerking models. In one scene, the clip cuts to 6ix9ine attaching the head of an animated rat onto his head, referring to the rapper ratting out his former gang members.
  • "Gooba" debuted at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated May 23, 2020. 6ix9ine had expected to arrive at the top position and he took issue with Billboard accusing them of manipulating the chart. He also alleged that Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber's management had bought plays and downloads for their song "Stuck With U," which debuted at #1 ahead of his cut.
  • The Kenyan producer Magix Enga claimed that "Gooba" unlawfully used one of his beats. Following Enga's accusations of plagiarism the song was taken down from YouTube but the track was quickly reinstated after the African retracted his copyright claim. According to Enga, he agreed to this after being paid an undisclosed sum.

The Texas production group BEATDEMONS also brought legal action against 6ix9ine claiming this song steals from their track "Regular."

  • Riggsy from Pittsburgh, PaWho gives a flying f**k about anything this prick 'sings'? He is the epitome of crap music that clueless American Gangsta wannabes suck up to. Thankfully, he'll be eradicated by those he grassed on, then we won't have to put up with anymore of this garbage.
