Songfacts®:

  • "Look Back at It" borrows from two Michael Jackson songs. A Boogie wit da Hoodie interpolates the flow and rhythm from "You Rock My World" throughout the verses and "Remember The Time" during the post-chorus.
  • A snippet of the song was first dropped by Boogie on his Instagram page back in December 21, 2017. However, the borrowing from "You Rock My World" caused the single to be held up for sample clearance for almost a year and "Look Back It" couldn't be fully released until December 7, 2018.
  • The song was produced by New Jersey beatmaker Jahann Sweet, whose other credits include Eminem's "Lucky You" and A Boogie's own "Drowning (Water)."
  • A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie released this as the lead single from Hoodie SZN in December 2018. The rapper's album reached #1 in the US on traditional album sales of just 832 – the rest of its ranking made up entirely of digital streams. Hoodie SZN remained at #1 for a second week with just 749 in sales, making it the lowest selling chart-topping album since Billboard began using Nielsen SoundScan to track unit sales.
