  • All the members started out in separate local bands in Ocala, Florida before meeting up and forming an early version of A Day to Remember. When drummer Alex Shelnutt replaced the departing Bobby Scruggs, he was only 15 years old. Upon being asked to join the band, Shelnutt replied that he'd have to check with his mom first. Fortunately for the band, she was extremely supportive and didn't mind the time he'd have to spend away from home for touring.
  • A Day to Remember enjoys using movie quotes as song titles. Some examples are "Mr. Highway's Thinking About the End" (from The Good Son) and "I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made of?" (Night at the Museum).
  • The entire band came down with a powerful virus during the swine-flu scare. The band was pulled over by police and taken to the hospital for a temporary quarantine pending tests. Guitarist Kevin Skaff recalls the doctors wearing intimidating full-body safety outfits that "looked like nuclear suits."
  • While the band boasts a fairly progressive musical style, many of guitarist Kevin Skaff's largest influences are very traditional. He cites the three guitarists with the most influence over his own musicianship as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page (of Led Zeppelin), and Randy Rhoads. Additionally, the first concert he ever went to was a Lynyrd Skynyrd show.
  • Several of the band members are also entrepreneurs. Jeremy McKinnon and Josh Woodard founded their own record label, Running Man, and Neil Westfall started an urban clothing company, Elevated Engineering.
  • Two of the band's songs appear in Rock Band: "The Downfall of Us All" and "I'm Made of Wax, Larry, What Are You Made of?" The band members are avid gamers, often passing the downtime on tours with videogames, and when the songs were released on Rock Band both Jeremy McKinnon and Neil Westfall attempted to play them—on expert. Both failed. They agreed that the songs were much harder in-game than in real life. The band has since met fands who discovered A Day to Remember through Rock Band.
