Songfacts®:

  • This track is the first music A Perfect Circle released since 2013's "By And Down" for their greatest hits album Three Sixty. It was dropped on October 16, 2017 as the lead single their fourth studio album, the band's first in fourteen years, after 2004's Emotive. Frontman Maynard James Keenan said,

"Fourteen years have passed since we released Emotive. A new release is long overdue. In light of this current difficult and polarized social, spiritual and political climate, we artist types need to open our big mouths and share the light a little louder."
  • The song idea originated with guitarist Billy Howerdel. He told Billboard:

"I just kind of presented a little snippet to Maynard and he thought there was something there and asked me to kind of flesh it out into a song. So I came back with a song and he wrote it quickly, and that's one of those song that came together quicker than most."
