Songfacts®:

  • The first song that A Rocket For The Moon penned for their second album, Wild & Free , "First Kiss" was written by guitarist Justin Richards and vocalist Nick Santino in Santino's bedroom. The singer told Artist Direct: "We like to write songs anybody can relate to. As cliché and corny as it sounds, everybody has had a first kiss for the most part. We wanted to paint that scene of getting into the 'First Kiss,' introducing yourself to the girl, meeting her father, and then going out on your date and having that first kiss. Later on in life, you're still together. We wanted to capture that Nicholas Sparks, A Walk to Remember vibe. We have a lot of girl fans, and they relate to that. They can tweet the lyrics."
  • The song first appeared on the band's 2012 EP That Old Feeling, then included on their Wild & Free album in 2013.

The group made headway with their 2009 single "Like We Used To," and while Wild & Free was well received, the band was burned out and frustrated with their record label (Fueled by Ramen) and disbanded soon after.
  • This soaring ballad describes a first date. Justin Richards told Radio.com the song takes him back to his own teenage experiences. "It reminds me of being in sixth grade, seventh grade and not being able to drive myself [to a date] and you get dropped off at the house," he said. "Dad answers the door and you're scared of him."
