  • July 3, 1958
  • He was born in Pensacola, Florida, but soon moved to a farm in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.
  • He got his boot in the door in Nashville by working as a songwriter for Acuff-Rose, where he co-wrote songs for Charley Pride, David Ball, and The Kingsmen. His first big hit, written with Mark Collie, was a cut for Garth Brooks called "Something With A Ring To It."
  • Shortly after landing a record deal with RCA Records, he released his first Top 10 hit, "You've Got To Stand For Something." One particular soldier went on to become a mission commander at NASA and brought one of Tippin's albums into space.
  • After his first marriage ended in divorce, Tippin married Thea Corontzos in 1995. Thea became his business partner with their company Tip Top Entertainment and co-wrote his hit "Kiss This." They have two sons, Ted and Tom. (Tippin also has a daughter, Charla, from his previous marriage.)
  • Before heading to Nashville, he was an airline pilot. In 2013, he became a certified flight instructor.
  • He won a Telly Award for 2015's Aaron Tippin - 25 Years, the accompanying documentary to his 25th anniversary album of the same name.
  • He posed for Playgirl magazine in 1998.
