Songfacts®:

  • Aerosmith teamed up with their old friend Diane Warren for this emotive ballad. The hitmaking songwriter also wrote "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" for the band. They knew that they had to record the song after Joe Perry played Warren's early demo for his wife, Billie. "She started to cry when she heard it," the guitarist recalled to Rolling Stone.
  • Speaking with Rolling Stone, Tyler compared the song to a Rock single he remembered from high school, 1967's "Come on Down to My Boat" by Every Mother's Son. "The chorus goes 'We . . . all . . . fall . . . down.' That's monumental in any song. When you do a song and all of a sudden just the drums are there?" he said. "That's magic in songs. So when I heard that, I knew it was just weird enough for us to pull off."
