Songfacts®:

  • This is a song by Dutch producer and DJ Nick van de Wall, whose stage name is Afrojack. It features vocals from Dutch singer Eva Simons, and the pair wrote the track together with Eva's mother Ingrid Simons, who has worked as a background singer for stars such as The Supremes and Mike Hamilton. It was released in the Netherlands on August 12, 2010.
  • Eva Simons first came to public attention in Holland after winning the Dutch version of the reality TV show Popstars. Simons became a member of a girl group called Raffish, who had a #1 hit in their home country with "Plaything." She embarked on a solo career after her song "Silly Boy" was leaked onto YouTube and swiftly clocked up several million hits.
  • The song was #1 for six weeks in a row on Billboard's Hottest Dance Airplay and was also the first Hot 100 hit for Eva Simons. Afrojack first entered the chart a few weeks previously as a featured artist on Pitbull's chart-topper "Give Me Everything (Tonight)."
  • The music video was directed by Alex Herron ("Dirty Picture") and shot on September 14, 2010 in Los Angeles.
  • Eva's grandfather was accordion player Johnny Meijer (1912–92), who became so famous in Holland, that his hometown of Amsterdam even dedicated a statue to him.
