Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track of French electronic pop duo Air's sixth studio album. On this song the single lyric "love" is used primarily as a brass stab and keyboard motif as much as it is an actual word.
  • Jean-Benoît Dunckel of the duo told The Independent September 19, 2009 that they feel love is especially important in this technology-obsessed world. He said: "We are all craving for love as human beings. I think this album is definitely less dark. When everything is fine in our lives we try to search out something a bit murkier. When things are complicated we desire something warm and relaxing. It's a parallel dimension where dreams can come true. That's the reason we fall in love; it's because we need to feel things very strongly."
  • Dunckel and his colleague Nicolas Godin cut Love 2 live, locked in their newly furbished studio along with drummer Joey Waronker. It was the first time they'd written an album in such a jam' style. Dunckel told Rolling Stone, "We're going away from electronic music. We're a band now."
