Songfacts®:

  • This is the second single from English recording artist Alesha Dixon's third album, The Entertainer. The song was co- written by Scottish soul-pop singer-songwriter Emeli Sande who first broke though in 2009 when she co-wrote and sung on Chipmunk's Top 10 hit "Diamond Rings." The other co-writer was Shahid "Naughty Boy" Khan.
  • Dixon explained the song's meaning in an interview with the NME. She said: "'Radio' is about what a lot of people experience on a daily basis - wanting to escape from heartbreak, but hearing it all the time on the radio."
