  • Here, Alessia Cara talks about how we treat love like a Nintendo game. She explained in a video interview that she was interested how people "treat something so precious" and something that's supposed to be so vulnerable like a video game. Cara admitted she finds herself doing this when she's arguing with a boyfriend. She explained: "It's like, I'm going to give the cold shoulder so then they feel bad and they say something, or I'm going to say like, forget it, it's fine, but I don't really mean that I mean something else."

Cara also had in mind "the beginning of relationships where you feel like you can't call back after, or before a certain amount of time, and then there's like this back and forth and this chase."

She concluded: "I just felt like we're battling each other like in some sort of a game, and dodging each other's insults, and strategizing, and yeah, I just thought it was a funny, weird play on the fact that people treat love like a game."
  • Cara hadn't planned for this to be on The Pains of Growing until her brother convinced her to include the song on the album.
