Songfacts®:

  • Alexandra Stan was born on June 10, 1989 in Constanta, Romania. Discovering her talent for music at an early age, as a child she took part of a lot of competitions, even the music festival 'Mamaia", where she impressed the audience with her versatile voice. In 2009 she released her debut single "Lollipop," but it was the follow-up "Mr. Saxobeat," which really ignited her career, becoming Stan's first number one single in her home country and entering the singles charts all over Europe.
  • Romanian record producer Marcel Prodan was the man behind the desk helming this up tempo Eurodance tune. He also co-wrote the song with André Nemirschi, which finds Stan trying to attract a man whom she is in love with.
  • This won the 2011 Romania Music Award for Best Song.
  • The song was a massive success in Stan's home country, Romania, topping the singles chart for eight weeks. Other countries where it reached #1 include Austria, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
