  • "I love my life, but I hate it sometimes," Alisa Amador sings on "Love Hate Song." "I have so many feelings all the time," she explained in a Songfacts interview. "It's kind of a problem. Sometimes it feels like a curse, but that's what makes it possible for me to write these songs. I was very excited when I stumbled upon those words and started writing that song. I needed it. I'm still finding my home in my voice."
  • Alisa Amador went through some wild swings in her career that led to this song. She grew up in a musical family and started releasing music in 2020. By 2022, she was ready to give up, disheartened because she felt boxed in and not heard. But that year she got a big break, winning the NPR Tiny Desk Contest with her song "Milonga accidental." This earned her a Tiny Desk concert and got the attention of artists like Maggie Rogers and Hozier that hired her as an opening act. Revitalized, she wrote "Love Hate Song" and the others that made up her debut album, Multitudes, released in 2024.
  • The video, directed by Luke Zvara, was shot at various local businesses in the Boston area, including the record store Vinyl Index and the brewery Remnant Brewing.
  • "Love Hate Song" was issued as a single from Multitudes a few months before the album was released. Amador says it has a theme similar to another song on the tracklist, "I Need To Believe."

"Both of these songs are about not knowing if I'm on the right path and doing things right," she told Songfacts. "and also realizing that most people don't."
