Songfacts®:

  • Singer Alex Gaskarth told Kerrang! that "Cinderblock Garden" is "A straight love song." Said Gaskarth: "It's about finding love in a situation which isn't ideal; life can survive all things if you let it. It's a story about a couple who are having to live in a city, when the girl wants a garden. Maybe it's not ideal conditions for this love, but we can make it work."
  • A concrete or cinder block is a large rectangular brick, which is used in the garden to define spaces or create a raised planting bed. Garskarth sings here of making the best of what they've got, so that his lover can be "the girl with the cinderblock garden."
