Songfacts®:

  • All Time Low teamed up with Avril Lavigne for this pop-punk song about moving on from fake people and toxic relationships.

"'Fake As Hell' is a song about realizing what is real and saying goodbye to what it isn't - it's about moving away from people and to separate things that don't build you up and don't move you forward," said All Time Low frontman Alex Gaskarth. "Instead of looking in the rearview mirror, we focus on what's in front of us."
  • "Fake as Hell" is All Time Low and Avril Lavigne's first recording together, although Lavigne performed a surprise cover of Blink-182's "All The Small Things" with Alex Gaskarth and All Time Low guitarist Jack Barakat at the When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas on October 23, 2022.
  • Gaskarth, Barakat and Lavigne wrote the song with Zakk Cervini and Andrew Goldstein. Gaskarth, Barakat, Cervini and Goldstein were the producers of All Time Low's 2020 album Wake Up, Sunshine.
  • All Time Low released "Fake As Hell" as a single on September 15, 2023, via Fueled by Ramen. It was Lavigne's second collaboration of 2023, following her joint single with American DJ Illenium and Travis Barker, "Eyes Wide Shut."
