Songfacts®:

  • This song was originally released by the band a few weeks after they left Interscope Records. They made it available as a free download from their website before they went out on Warped Tour for the summer. A month later it was announced that All Time Low had returned to Hopeless Records, the label with whom they released their debut EP Put Up or Shut Up in the summer of 2006 just weeks after their graduation from high school. The lyrics about trying to find your place in the world and staying true to themselves appear to relate to the band coming home to the independent label.
  • Frontman Alex Gaskarth explained the song's meaning to Kerrang!: "'The Reckless And The Brave' is really about me and the band committing to taking that first leap of faith in going for a career that basically off the beaten path," he said. "It's an ode to anyone who decides to take that shot in the dark at the risk of potential failure."
