Songfacts®:

  • Alabama native Allison Veltz is a former member of the Pop-Rock band Cecilia. She was discovered by producer Mark Bright while working as a singing waitress in New York and signed to Nashville's Blaster Records. This is her debut solo single.
  • Veltz co-wrote the upbeat song with Dan Muckala, whose previous credits include Amy Grant ("Better Than a Hallelujah"), MercyMe ("The Hurt & The Healer"), Brandon Heath ("The Light in Me") and Backstreet Boys ("Make Believe").
  • Veltz said: "I have lived this song so many times in my life. If you've hit the bottom you can stay there or you can choose to move. Sometimes it's a beautiful act of defiance to look at the bright side."
