Songfacts®:

  • After the international success of her "Chasing Highs" single, Alma left her Finland hometown Kuopio for Los Angeles to hook up with some of the writers there. At first Alma found the City of Angels intimidating – she felt so scared and small in the big Californian metropolis. In this song, she explains how she overcame her insecurities by adopting a cowboy alter ego.

Never stop, never stop fallin' apart
But it doesn't really hit so hard
Thick skin, dark mind and a broken heart
But it doesn't really hit so hard
    Anymore

By becoming a cowboy Alma was able to understand her identity and be bold, raw and free.
  • Alma wrote the song between the Finnish city of Helsinki and Los Angeles alongside Justin Tranter (Selena Gomez, Hailee Steinfeld, Justin Bieber), Sarah Hudson (Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Halsey) and BloodPop (Haim, Grimes). The latter also produced the track.
