Songfacts®:

  • On this introspective cut from the band's fifth album, frontwoman Amanda Anne Platt is learning to appreciate what she has in the way of love, "'cause I know that what we've got is what everybody's trying so hard to find."
  • The opening lyric conjures an image of a house with peeling paint, where a snoring dog sleeps on the porch, and a record store window that holds the sign "Quit looking, love is blind." Songfacts asked Platt if she was inspired by real locations. She replied: "The record store with the sign in the window was actually not a real place. That was like a half dream, where I was picturing a real record store that I know and sort of adding my own embellishment with the sign in the window. The house with the peeling paint could be so many houses. That's my house, among others. But when I wrote that, I was actually babysitting for my friend's little girl. She was taking a nap and I was sitting there looking out the window and there is their neighbor's house. It had the wicker chair and the peeling paint and their dog was snoring, and I just kind of wrote that song while she was asleep."
