Songfacts®:

  • Many Amon Amarth songs draw from Norse mythology, and in this one, the Swedish rockers set the story in Asgaard, which is a realm ruled by the god Odin. In our interview with lead singer Johan Hegg, he said: "We wanted to have a powerful metal song, and just came up with this idea of Vikings that were the guardians of Asgaard, and then I started writing it."
  • Lars Göran Petrov, lead singer of the band Entombed, sings on this track along with Johan Hegg.
  • Dariusz Szermanowicz directed the video, which portrays the snowy battles as the Vikings defend their land. Szermanowicz also did the Amon Amarth videos for "Twilight of the Thunder God" and "Death in Fire."
