Songfacts®:

  • Anderson East wrote this horn-heavy throwback tune with Dave Cobb, Aaron Raitiere and Swedish EDM artist Avicii. Asked by InStyle how the song came about, Anderson East replied:

"It was very impulsive. There was no premonition of it. What was actually supposed to end up being a writing appointment ended up turning into a whole session. We started at about 5 p.m. with nothing and walked out at 3 a.m. and that's what you hear on the record."
  • The lyrics about coveting another guy's girl raised some eyebrows, with some fans querying whether the song was inspired by Anderson East's girlfriend, Miranda Lambert.

    I ain't gonna say I'm sorry now
I think I'm in love with your girlfriend

Lambert started dating East a few months after it was announced she was divorcing her husband Blake Shelton. Asked by InStyle if the song was inspired by his girlfriend, East demurred: "It was something tongue-in-cheek that made us laugh. We were just trying to amuse ourselves."
