Songfacts®:

  • This the first single from Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin mainman Andrew McMahon's debut solo album. The songs on Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness were penned by the singer-songwriter in a cabin in Los Angeles' Topanga Canyon.
  • McMahon penned the tracks Monday to Friday before returning home on the weekends to be with his pregnant wife Kelly. This song was inspired by their newborn baby, Cecilia. "I wanted to have a snapshot of who I was in the years leading up to meeting her," the proud father told Billboard magazine.
  • This was Andrew McMahon's first Hot 100 hit. As a member of Jack's Mannequin, McMahon had previously reached #104 with "The Resolution," while his first band, Something Corporate, racked up a UK Top 40 hit with "Punk Rock Princess."
