Songfacts®:

  • Nineteen years after Christina Aguilera declared "we are beautiful in every single way," Anne-Marie sends out a similar message of self-acceptance. While Aguilera sung of words not bringing her down, Anne-Marie reflects in this song's verses on her body insecurities. During the chorus, she tells herself to ignore her imperfections and stop comparing herself to others.

We are beautiful, all of us
    'Cause we got something natural
    It's a part of us
  • Ed Sheeran and Max Martin wrote the feel-good song with the Swedish producer and songwriter Elvira Anderfjärd. Elvira, who also played the drums and bass on the track, is best known for her remixes of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" and "Willow" singles. She also co-penned Katy Perry's "What Makes A Woman."
  • The song features backing vocals from Anne-Marie's family. There is a heartwarming solo moment at the end of the track from the singer's godson, Sebastian Hack, and his little sister, Siena.
  • Syrian refugee, photographer, and filmmaker Hassan Akkad directed the song's music video, which shows Dima Amin AKtaa's rehabilitation story after she lost the lower half of her left leg from a bomb attack in Syria.
