  • In this upbeat single from her debut album, Anne Wilson sings about the everyday miracles God performs in peoples' lives. "'God Thing' is a very special song," the Christian singer explained. "I grew up hearing the phrase 'It's A God Thing' and didn't fully understand that until I watched God do miraculous things. He is faithful and is always moving in our lives even when we can't see Him. I pray this song shows you the places that God is working in your life."
  • Wilson, who never dreamed of becoming a singer, unexpectedly found her voice when she sang at her brother's funeral in 2017. Since then, she's witnessed many "God things" in her own life, including landing a record deal and a #1 hit on the Christian Songs chart with "My Jesus."

In a 2022 Songfacts interview with Wilson, she explained, "The first one to come to mind is the fact that the Lord used the death of my brother to bring about my whole music career. I think getting the whole record deal was a God thing. Having the song 'My Jesus' was a God thing. There are so many things in my music career that have been very evident that the Lord is in, and there's no other explanation."
  • Wilson wrote this with her "Sunday Sermons" co-writers, Ben Glover and Jeff Sojka.
