Songfacts®:

  • "Relentless" was birthed when the father of vocalist Max Kerman played him a tune by a South African artist named Chicco. Kerman explained that when he showed it to his bandmates they were so inspired by its "afro-pop, keyboard driven, epic, cinematic groove," they ended up building this song around it. It represented a new direction for The Arkells as it was the first time they had ever sampled a track.
  • Kerman explained his lyrics for the song are "about the idea of being a part of something bigger than myself. I was thinking about the band, and how we lean on each other, and how each guy brings something different, but contributes to a larger idea. We find strength in each other."
