Songfacts®:

  • "Dirty Little Secret" dives into the tangled world of secret relationships. Artemas finds himself caught up with a woman who sneaks out at 3 a.m. to meet him, hinting at a hidden commitment elsewhere. Despite the secrecy and lack of promises, Artemas is happy to be her "dirty little secret," enjoying stolen moments of intimacy.
  • The song takes a relatable turn as emotions start to complicate things. Artemas might be initially okay with the secret arrangement, but the thrill is fading, replaced by a longing for something more. The constant secrecy and her defensive attitude take a toll, leaving him wondering if this fleeting connection is worth the emotional turmoil.
  • Artemas wrote the song with Jesse Fink and his two co-producers, Kevin White and Toby Daintree. They penned it the same week that the four wrote his "I Like The Way You Kiss Me" hit single.

"It's kind of the follow-up," Artemas told BBC Radio 1's Jack Saunders. "It's got a bit more heart than 'I Like The Way You Kiss Me'. I'm a nicer guy on the record. It's my redemption."

"I get on the mic, and I just mumble stuff," he continued. "And whatever comes out, I don't know. I feel like I'm not really in control of it. And then I build the song around that. And it's like, it's not all of it is true. Some of it's true. And I try not to overthink."
  • "Dirty Little Secret" is the second single from Artemas' second mixtape, Yustyna. "The whole idea of this project is just, I wanted like an outlet where I can make like an extended version of myself," said Artemas. "Something that was larger than me, like I didn't just like that's what I enjoy."
