Songfacts®:

  • This track finds A$AP Rocky bigging himself up as a champion. The track was produced by frequent Rocky collaborator Hector Delgado and is built around a sample of Moby's 2000 hit "Porcelain." Rocky told Genius:

"It's my champion's song. 'A$AP Forever' is like the forthcoming of something else that was long awaited. When I heard it, I thought about victory. I thought about glory or empire, something like that. I just thought about something triumphant like, it was just like it sounded like a big, huge, just sound.

And when I say big, pause, I mean like more in the sonic scale, not as far as a successful or this is a big tune. The sound is just crazy. That's right up my alley. If you really check out some of my early work from 'Bittersweet Symphony' and s--t like that, that's all like in the same vein."
  • Rocky is also listed as a producer. He explained: how he contributed to the production:

"Just basically arrangement and enhancement. It was a skeleton when we got it, and just thinking to put the Moby track on it and feature Moby on it and put it toward the end, right in the hook at the end, have him, my little sis Chloe on it, shout outs to her, sing on that part. I dictate how all the songs sound and the arrangement and just how the transitions go. So that goes without saying. I just ain't know that that was called producing."
  • The album version is a remix of the single featuring guest appearances from T.I. and Kid Cudi. It is Rocky's second collaboration with both artists – he originally hooked up with T.I. on Tip's 2012 track "Wildside" and Cudi on the latter's 2013 song "Brothers."
  • Rather than using the original "Porcelain" song, Rocky got Moby to re-sing his vocals. The rapper's musicians then replayed the instrumentation.
