Songfacts®:

  • In February 2017, Asking Alexandra frontman Danny Worsnop released his debut solo full-length country-inspired album, The Long Road Home. This song finds him reflecting about the writing of that record. He explained to Alternative Press:

"Obviously [that] album was a very personal one for me, and I included a lot of things about myself in it. I think I've been shying away from so much of myself and bottling a lot up and running away from a lot of problems that I had. That album was the first time that I'd actually sat down and faced and tried to deal with the things I'd been through. It was a great form of therapy for me; and as soon as I finished that album, I started work on this Asking Alexandria one. So, the story basically just continues. You know, escaping myself and locking myself away to where I didn't have a choice but to confront me."
  • Kerrang asked Danny Worsnop if it was difficult to get so deep and personal on songs like "Alone In a Room." He replied: "I started my journey into open heart surgery through songwriting during The Long Road Home. I came right off the album into doing this, so it was a continuation for me. I think this is the most honest work I've ever done which is a big thing for me to say because The Long Road Home is based so much of myself."
  • Directed by Sumerian Films' Steven Contreras, the song's black-and-white music video finds Worsnop attempting in vain to communicate with the rest of Asking Alexandria. The clip marks the second chapter - the prequel - of the trilogy that began with "Into The Fire" in 2017.
