Songfacts®:

  • "I Do" is a breezy post-break up love song where Astrid S confesses her remaining feelings for her ex. The Norwegian pop singer is joined on the track by US country star Brett Young, who feels the same way. "I really try not to miss you," Astrid S and Young sing in harmony on the chorus. "But in the end. I do." Somebody needs to tell them they still love each other.
  • Astrid S wrote "I Do," with Jakob Gustaf Hazell, Svante Halldin, Tia Scola and Julia Karlsson. She's a big fan of country music, which explains Young's inclusion as her duet partner. "I've grown up with country music – it's a genre I admire very much and it's been a big influence and inspiration throughout the years in my songwriting," she said. "I'm so happy Brett wanted to do this song with me."
  • Brett Young told Billboard it was the song's novel take on heartbreak that drew him to the call-and-response duet. "I'm a songwriter first, so I'm usually pretty hard on lyrics," he explained. "I was immediately impressed about not just the story that was being told, but also the way that it was being told. I thought it was very, very lyrically sound and sounded like something that I would write and even in a way that I would say it."
  • Though this is the first time that Astrid S has recruited a big name for one of her songs, she has hopped on other star name's tunes; she provided backing vocals for Katy Perry's "Hey Hey Hey" and sang on the acoustic remix of Avicii's "Waiting for Love."
