Songfacts®:

  • This is the first single to be taken from American Metalcore quintet Atreyu's fifth album, Congregation Of The Damned.
  • The song is simultaneously about vocalist and lyricist Alex Varkatzas' psychological turmoil and the volatile state of the world on the brink of annihilation. He explained: "I wrote it from two angles at once so it would impact different people in different ways. I have a tendency to get either super depressed or super pissed off. I can see it coming and I can feel it building and it's like watching clouds or thunder heads rolling off the beach onto an island and just destroying the island. And at the same time it's about how you can see wars or conflicts forming, like Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, what's going on in North Korea or what could be going on in Pakistan or Iran. You feel this tension building, this storm, this malice, and it's like a never-ending cycle and it can destroy us all."
  • The song's music video was shot in the desert near Palm Springs, California and was directed by Sean Stiegemeier, who has previously worked with the band on clips for "Falling Down", "Doomsday", "The Crimson" and "Lip Gloss and Black".

  • Charlie from Las Vegas, Nvi know i've said this a million times today, but if Neil Gaiman decided to make his book 'American Gods' into a movie, this song would go PERFECT on the soundtrack because the lyrics match the book's plot perfectly. Great song.
  • Corey from Richmond, VaFirst time I heard this song it got stuck in my head. Great song.
