Songfacts®:

  • "Do You Feel?" is what happens when Aurora decides to take the age-old tug-of-war between heart and mind and turn it into a folk-infused dance anthem. The song imagines an ongoing spat between our inner emotional compass and that nagging voice of reason that insists on spoiling all the fun.
  • The refrain, "Never give up this feeling. Never give up on love," is the heart's rallying cry, a defiant pushback against the mind's relentless logic and all its tiresome "good sense."

"I wanted to wrap these conflicting feelings in different clothes," Aurora told The Sun, describing the whimsical scenario she concocted. "I was imagining the heart speaking to the mind and arguing with it. It was an absurd scenario to picture, and it became a rather playful song."
  • Aurora co-wrote and co-produced "Do You Feel?" with Magnus Skylstad. A Norwegian musician and producer, Skylstad has been Aurora's longtime collaborator, percussionist, and all-around musical sidekick since her early days.
  • In an interview with The Forty-Five, Aurora admitted she resorted to some alcoholic help when she laid down this song.

"I was drinking a lot," she said. "Especially the song 'Do You Feel.' Others I was definitely tipsy, some of the lyrics are painful for me, so it helped a bit to less vulnerable singing those with someone in the studio. So yeah, I've been drinking a lot and dancing a lot in the studio before I go to the studio, which I have never done before!"
  • "Do You Feel?" lands as the 12th track on Aurora's fourth album, What Happened To The Heart? Aurora described the record as an exploration of how society has shifted from viewing the heart as the center of emotion and intuition to prioritizing the mind and logic. "Do You Feel?" embodies this theme by repeatedly asking "Do you feel love?" emphasizing the importance of emotional experiences.
