Songfacts®:

  • "Christmas Without You" is a feel-good, festive bop where Ava Max longs for her partner. She can't wait for him to join her for the holiday season as it doesn't feel like Christmas without her beau.
  • Ava Max co-wrote "Christmas Without You" with her producer Cirkut, and with Jesse Aicher, Sam Martin, and Gian Stone. Oregon-raised singer-songwriter Martin has several credits on David Guetta tracks, including co-writing and singing on the French DJ's hit singles "Dangerous" and "Lovers On The Sun." His writing resumé also includes songs by Maroon 5 ("Daylight"), Jason Derulo ("Want to Want Me") and Nick Jonas ("Levels").

Gian Stone helped Cirkut produce the jingle bell-infused track. He has form for producing festive numbers with a retro influence, having also worked on Jonas Brothers' "Like It's Christmas."
  • Ava Max released "Christmas Without You" on October 15, 2020. It reached the Top 40 in Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, and The Netherlands and peaked at #28 on the US Adult Contemporary chart.
  • Max dropped the video for "Christmas Without You" on December 17, 2022. She performs the song adored in a Christmas-styled red dress against a wintry background of snow and trees. Following the release of the video, Max's holiday anthem entered the UK singles chart for the first time.
