Songfacts®:

  • This song finds a lonely Lavigne discussing exchanging sex for for a person's company. She promises: "if you give me what you want then I'll give you what you like." It was one of several tracks on the self-titled album that Lavigne penned with her then-new boyfriend, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, along with former Evanescence member David Hodges (Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry). Kroeger told People magazine that as a result of their romance, Lavigne and him found themselves penning plenty of ballads and their music may have been sickly for their collaborators. "We wrote a song called 'My Little Secret,' about keeping our relationship under wraps," he admitted. "And others like 'Let Me Go', 'Hush Hush,' and 'Give You What You Like.' Our writing partner must have been like, 'You guys are making me sick!'"
  • The song featured in the 2015 Lifetime movie Babysitter's Black Book.
