Songfacts®:

  • The second single from Azealia Banks' Broke with Expensive Taste album is a party banger that was produced by and features Pharrell Williams. Banks told Complex magazine that its origins lay with two beats that Williams gave her: "I get a call from Pharrell and he's likes, 'Hey I've got this record. I've got this song for Beyoncé and I really think you're the only one who can write it," she said. "I was so excited so I went down - this is a completely different song - and I wrote a verse for this song. He also gave me this beat and was like, 'Do you think you can figure out something? Try and do something that's not for you'."

Banks went on to say she likes part of the track, but sees it as only being worthy of an album cut. "If I were writing a book and I wanted to preview my book on Amazon, I wouldn't choose this chapter to preview," she remarked. "There are better chapters in the book. This is a passing chapter."
  • Banks debuted the track during her set at the English music festival Glastonbury on June 29, 2013.
  • The song failed to trouble the charts. Banks blamed its failure on Pharrell Williams not wanting to be associated with her after his success throughout 2013. "The reason 'ATM Jam' did poorly is because Pharell changed his mind about wanting to be associated with me after he had his lite skin comeback," the rapper tweeted. "But f--k it what's new? Azealia Banks having to scrape claw and fight for what she wants. This is normal for me now."
