Songfacts®:

  • This straightforward love song was almost omitted from Love's tracklisting, since it was deemed a bad stylistic fit. Released as the album's third single, the catchy tune made #3 on the UK singles chart to become Aztec Camera's biggest hit.

"I didn't really get it," frontman Roddy Frame admitted to Mojo magazine, "until I was being driven down Ladbroke Grove one day and the sun was shining and someone was in a convertible and I heard it blaring out on their radio. It's one of those songs."

  • Deep Thinker from UkWestwood to Hollywood etc is a reference to Plastic Surgery not really working, whilst still being very popular with people trying to keep looking young. Therefore 'sell your soul' is a reference to losing the original person.
  • Dani from CaliforniaI keep wondering what they mean by

    From Westwood to Hollywood
    The one thing that's understood
Is that you can't buy time
But you can sell your soul
And the closest thing to heaven is to rock and roll

I just want to know if they are warning people and telling the truth or if they themselves sold their souls.
