Songfacts®:

  • "That song was essentially a beat and an acoustic guitar," Babyface told Entertainment Weekly of his highest-charting hit. "There were very few R&B artists who would use acoustic guitar in that way. It wasn't like I had this cool idea where I thought I would change the game, but it was just what the song required. Fortunately it worked. I wrote it on the guitar, and I just wanted it to stay simple. It felt more heartfelt that way."

The song finds Babyface refusing to give up on a relationship after his girlfriend ends it, believing he could change her mind if she would see him one more time.
  • This also peaked at #6 on the R&B chart.
  • Babyface won his first Grammy Award with this song in the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance category. He also took home the prize for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical for the album.
  • This was included on the 2000 album Babyface : A Collection of His Greatest Hits.
