Songfacts®:

  • Pete Doherty in Rolling Stone Magazine: '"You Talk' was originally a copy of a certain Velvet Underground song. 'Crumb Begging Baghead,' that's a generic '60s garage riff. For any music aficionados out there, if you just play E to G, with a cool hairdo, you can't go wrong. Check out [Texas psychedelic rockers] the Golden Dawn."
  • This was co-written by Pete Doherty's then girlfriend Kate Moss during their romance. The model has writing credits on 4 Shotters Nation tracks, but she allowed the Babyshambles front man to keep all the royalties saying she was happy to have the credits on the album but it's not about the money for her.
  • Pete Doherty designed the artwork for the single. The Babyshambles frontman is a talented artist, the first public exhibition of his paintings and prints were exhibited in the Bankrobber gallery, London in May 2007.
