Songfacts®:

  • On "Comin' In Cold" Bailey Zimmerman sings about a woman he can't resist despite knowing she's trouble. He describes her as "a little miss reckless, trainwreck in a red dress," someone who repeatedly causes him pain, yet he finds himself drawn back to her.
  • "Comin' In Cold" was released on June 6, 2025, ahead of Zimmerman's sophomore album, Different Night Same Rodeo. The project was recorded over a period of two years in Nashville with the singer's trusted collaborator, Austin Shawn, behind the boards.
  • Jake Puliti, Jaron Boyer, Kaylin Roberson, and Matt Gorman wrote the song. Boyer is the veteran of the bunch, with credits on hits for the likes of Jason Aldean ("Girl Like You") and George Birge ("Mind On You"), while the others earned their first major artist placement here.

Puliti and Gorman also helped write Different Night Same Rodeo's title track.
  • Although Zimmerman didn't write the scathing song, he's spoken about how its themes mirror his personal journey. When he debuted the song on May 18, 2025, during his Sand in My Boots set in Gulf Shores, Alabama, he told the festival goers:

"Everybody knows I've been on a pretty hard search for a wife. I've been looking for a wife for a long time and still haven't found her. It seems like every single time I start to really like somebody or get into them, it just crashes. I'm starting to think it might be me actually. Am I the problem?"

Then Zimmerman leaned into the mic and said: "I'm very honored to get to play this next song. It's about having this girl in my life that I can't seem to get away from, and she just keeps ruining it, man. She just keeps messing me up. If you got something like that in your life, this one goes out to you."
