This was her the lead single from her debut EP Fall Over, which was released on March 1, 2013. The song later found its way on to Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show and the exposure triggered a breakthrough year for the singer. "'Before I Ever Met You' was the first one to come out and that just dives into the grit and it's pretty graphic about a relationship," Banks told Digital Spy. "For my first song, it was very special the way it happened, because I didn't really hold anything back and people responded to it."
