Songfacts®:

  • It doesn't take a great knowledge of the French language to understand the title. This troubling song was written by Monique Serf, who recorded it in 1972. Known professionally as Barbara, she is said to have been sexually abused by her father as a child.

In the UK, this song would almost certainly have been banned from the radio at the time, but 21 years later when an English version appeared, things were different. Unsurprisingly it was recorded in the same style by Marc Almond. His version - "Incestuous Love" - runs to 6 minutes 17 seconds. >>>
