Songfacts®:

  • This John Lees composition is not as unpleasant as it sounds, it has a half-decent riff but is far from guitar dominated.

According to the March 1994 issue of the fanzine Nova Lepidoptera, it is based on/inspired by two novels: Graham Greene's A Burnt-Out Case and Joseph Conrad's An Outcast Of The Islands; the former which deals with burn-out syndrome (or burnt-out syndrome); the latter which has the theme of "one man's alienation from the society in which he finds himself". >>
