Songfacts®:

  • Running to 3:45 and co-written with Bruce Sussman and Jack Feldman, this is Barry Manilow's take on the Bermuda Triangle, and one which proves that there are far more inexplicable mysteries in this world that UFOs, time warps and magnetic anomalies in the ocean. Like women! Here, we see him departing for a holiday in the sun with his woman - presumably not his wife, because she soon deserts him to walk off with a stranger. Happily, like buses, there will be another one along in a minute, and there is. And Barry lives happily ever after, at least until the end of his holiday.
  • On stage, Manilow would perform this song as a cameo with the assistance of a couple of models, or even with volunteers from the audience. All good clean fun. >>>

  • At this time in his career, Manilow had only reached the Top 20 in the UK one other time, with his seminal 1971 hit, "Mandy." After "Bermuda Triangle" hit #15, he accomplished the feat a few more times with "Let's Hang On!" (#12), "I Wanna Do It With You" (#8), and "Read 'Em And Weep" (#17).
  • Fleetwood Mac also sang about the mysterious vortex on "The Bermuda Triangle," sans any holiday shenanigans, for their 1974 Heroes Are Hard To Find album.
