  • Bastille's Dan Smith wrote this sweeping and emotional ballad for the Netflix original film, Bright, a cop drama set in an alternate present-day in which fairies, orcs, and other mythological creatures are real. Smith explained to Beats 1's Zane Lowe that it was an easy process for him as he co-opted an idea he'd already had for a song and transformed it for the movie.

"Often when you hand something in or send something off there's a delay, and as a creative person it can be crushing if you don't hear something back even within a day," he said. "And literally 10 minutes later, I got a call back and everyone was really into it and wanted it to be a single. It was one of the most satisfying experiences like that I've ever had."
  • Dan Smith told Billboard that Bright's themes of social injustice hit home, inspiring his dreamy, string-laden track. "We live in a time where the world is as on its head as [in] the film," he said.
