Songfacts®:

  • This folk-pop tune contains lyrical references to the Catalonian town Figueres and its most famous son, the artist Salvador Dali. The Spanish painter's surrealist art has influenced a number of pop videos including Faith No More's "Epic," Squeeze's "Hourglass" and (yep we're not kidding) Ashlee Simpson's " Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya)."
  • This Andy Bell song details a Salvador Dali pilgrimage from Cadaques to Figueres. The NME asked Liam if he ever got the lyric sheet and asked Andy what it's all about? He replied: "Listen, I know who Salvador Dali is, but I don't go through lyrics like that. To go through everyone's lyrics would be an insult. As long as the tune moves me, and the melody's great, I'm in. It beats singing about f---ing cigarettes and alcohol."
  • This was originally earmarked for Oasis's last album Dig Out Your Soul until Noel found himself cringing at the line, "You've just got to know yourself."
  • Andy Bell penned the song in 2007, after returning home from a trip to Spain. It was inspired by a road trip with his pal Iain, when they visited a bar in the fishing village of Cadaqués, which was full of pictures of Salvador Dali hanging out with the Rolling Stones. The pair then journeyed from the coast to Figueres, where the Dali museum is before proceeding on to the artist's house by the sea at Port Ligat.
  • Bell returned to Cadaqués with the rest of Beady Eye to film the song's music video in between two gigs in Milan and Madrid.
