Songfacts®:

  • In this song, Bebe Rexha is suffocating from the lack of realness in Los Angeles, a city known for artifice. Rexha moved there from New York in 2015 to advance her career, but found herself alone when she parted ways with her boyfriend, her manager and her best friend, who she says "left me."

Rather than wallow in pity, Rexha takes a stand here against fake friends. "We don't need 'em," she sings. "Only thing they're good for is leaving."
  • You can probably guess what the title stands for, but we'll tell you anyway: "F--k Fake Friends." The clean version is "Forget Fake Friends." Using "forget" as a clean substitute is something Cee Lo Green did on this 2010 hit "Forget You."
  • G-Eazy features on this track, venting his own frustrations with Los Angeles, which include guest lists and award show culture. Rexha and G-Eazy previously collaborated on the 2015 hit "Me, Myself & I."
  • Rexha wrote this song with Lauren Christy, whose co-writes include "The Remedy (I Won't Worry)" for Jason Mraz and "Complicated" for Avril Lavigne. The song was produced by the Captain Cuts team, the same crew that worked on her previous single, "I Got You." G-Eazy and the producers are also listed as writers on the song.
  • The video, directed by Emil Nava, finds Rexha and G-Eazy roaming about an abandoned Amsterdam, fruitlessly looking for realness.
  • This song is part of Rexha's 6-song EP All Your Fault: Pt. 1, which deals with her bitterness and angst. Instead of releasing a complete album, she split it in two EPs, with the second, more positive EP, released later.
